Romanian Agency for Rural Investment Launches Digital Platform for Local Action Groups (GALs)

Bucharest, July 2025 – The Romanian Agency for Financing Rural Investments (AFIR) has officially launched a dedicated digital platform for Local Action Groups (GALs), as part of its commitment to modernizing and streamlining access to EU rural development funds.

The platform is available at https://gal.afir.ro and becomes the exclusive and official working tool for GALs implementing projects under the LEADER DR-36 intervention – Community-Led Local Development (CLLD) within Romania’s 2023–2027 Common Agricultural Policy Strategic Plan.

“This digital tool, fully developed by AFIR’s in-house IT department with no additional budgetary costs, represents a key instrument for transparent, efficient, and real-time management of local development projects,” said Adrian Chesnoiu, General Director of AFIR. “By advancing this initiative, we continue the extensive process of digitizing public services while supporting the transformation of how rural communities access and manage available funding.”

• End-to-end project lifecycle management, from funding applications to monitoring.
• Secure and intuitive interface for both GAL administrators and beneficiaries.
• Access options include:
• Existing GAL login credentials
• Personal Gmail accounts
• Verified access via ROeID – Romania’s national digital identity platform developed by the Authority for Digitalization.

This new platform becomes mandatory for all GALs starting immediately, aiming to professionalize local administration and reinforce partnerships between the central government and local rural communities.
