Digitalisation is becoming one of the key pillars of agricultural modernisation in Europe. According to the European Commission – The Digitalisation of Agriculture Report 2024, more than 60% of farms in the EU use at least one digital tool, with adoption accelerating particularly among medium and large operations.

In Romania, progress is slower but steadily increasing. Data included in the CAP Strategic Plan 2023–2027 confirm that digitalisation is regarded as a strategic development instrument, with dedicated funding measures supporting soil sensors, automated livestock monitoring systems, farm management platforms, and GPS-guided machinery.

Reports published by AFIR in 2024 show that digital solutions are among the most in-demand investments, especially in dairy farms and poultry facilities. The benefits are clear: real-time visibility over production parameters, reduced resource consumption, prevention of losses, and faster decision-making.

At EU level, DG AGRI highlights that farms implementing full digital integration achieve efficiency gains of 10–20%, depending on sector and level of automation. For Romania, this represents a tangible opportunity to reduce the productivity gap compared with the EU average.

Digitalisation is transforming how farms operate, and fast adoption of new technologies is becoming a critical competitive advantage.
