European Extremists Support Russia's Interests in Fertilizer Issues

Recently, the Patriots Party, a far-right political group, took the lead in drafting the opinion of the European Parliament's Agriculture Committee regarding tariffs on fertilizers imported from Russia.

This decision was made possible by the decisive vote of the European People's Party (EPP), which supported the Patriots' proposal.

This move has sparked controversy and drawn attention to the growing influence of far-right parties in shaping the European Union's agricultural policies.

Three weeks ago, the European Commission proposed a significant increase in tariffs on fertilizers imported from Russia, arguing that this measure is necessary to protect European producers from unfair competition and ensure the sustainability of the EU agricultural sector.

However, critics argue that raising tariffs could lead to higher prices for farmers and, ultimately, for consumers.

The Patriots’ leadership in drafting the Agriculture Committee's opinion on these tariffs has raised concerns among other political groups and civil society organizations.

They fear that the growing influence of far-right parties could result in the adoption of protectionist and nationalist policies that might negatively impact international trade and cooperation among EU member states.

Additionally, this situation highlights the existing divisions within the European Parliament and the difficulty in reaching a consensus on agricultural and trade policies. The EPP’s support for the Patriots' proposal suggests a potential realignment of political alliances and raises questions about the future direction of EU policies in agriculture and trade.
