AFIR to Fund Additional Agricultural Equipment Projects Following Budget Increase under Submeasure 4.1 of PNDR 2014–2020

As a result of the increased funding allocated to the financing line under Package 4.1.1 “Simple acquisition of farm equipment – crop sector”, the Agency for Financing Rural Investments (AFIR) will finance eligible but previously unfunded projects submitted during the 2024 session for Component III “Associative forms, other than those in the sugar beet sector”. Package 4.1.1 is part of Submeasure 4.1 “Investments in agricultural holdings” within the National Rural Development Programme 2014–2020 (PNDR 2020).

According to the supplementary selection report published on www.afir.ro, 76 projects have been approved for funding, with a total non-reimbursable value of €84.66 million (84,659,549 EUR).

The selected projects will now enter the contracting stage, following notification of the applicants selected for funding. Farmers will then be able to begin acquiring equipment and machinery in accordance with the financing contracts concluded with AFIR.

It is worth noting that 144 online applications were submitted under Component III of Package 4.1.1, requesting a total of €162,056,360 in funding. Out of these, and within the limits of the initially available budget, 41 projects were selected, totaling €52,359,606 in non-reimbursable support.

The budget increase was made possible through efforts by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Managing Authority, and AFIR to amend the National Rural Development Programme 2014–2020.

Following the European Commission Decision C(2024) 8438 of 22.11.2024, which approved version 19 of PNDR 2020, the procedural framework was updated and, on March 24, 2025, the increased budget for Submeasure 4.1 was officially communicated.
