Romania Reaffirms Commitment to a Strong Common Agricultural Policy in Post-2027 EU Budget Talks
The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Florin Barbu, took part in a high-level meeting at Victoria Palace with European Commissioner for Budget, Anti-Fraud, and Public Administration, Piotr Serafin, dedicated to consultations on the future Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF) beyond 2027.
During the discussions, Minister Florin Barbu reiterated the importance of maintaining a strong Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) with an adequate budget and simplified rules, to ensure predictability for farmers and to contribute to both territorial cohesion and food security within the European Union.
“Romania strongly supports a Common Agricultural Policy that can effectively sustain farmers’ incomes, respond to climate challenges, and contribute to the sustainable development of rural areas. We need a more flexible and field-adapted financing framework, one that reduces bureaucracy and allows farmers to focus on production and innovation,” stated Minister Florin Barbu.
