We inform you that FAO (Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations) is organizing an African Swine Fever Training Course from March 26th to April 26th, 2024.

The course is open for four weeks, will be conducted entirely online, in Romanian language, comprises seven modules, and will last approximately 15 hours.

The course will begin with an interactive live webinar aimed at meeting expert trainers. Throughout the course, expert trainers will be available through a discussion forum to answer participants' questions and conduct interactive discussions. Towards the end of the course, a second interactive live webinar will be organized for discussions on topics raised during the course.

FORMAT: HYBRID - a mix of facilitated online training sessions, self-paced exercises, and useful resources.

This course, originally developed by the FAO Regional Office for Europe and Central Asia (REU), together with the Friedrich Löffler Institute, has been adapted, translated, and delivered in several FAO regions.

Who is the course for?

The primary audience for the course is official and private veterinarians who may be involved in diagnosing, investigating, and responding to an ASF outbreak. However, the course is also suitable for personnel in the pig industry who may also be involved in response activities.

What does the course involve?

The course is entirely online, in Romanian language, and will last approximately 15 hours. Approximately 400 participants can take the course simultaneously, and it is open for four weeks.

The course will begin with an interactive live webinar, where participants meet their trainers and are introduced to the course. Trainees then progress through seven interactive online modules, enriched with photos, videos, exercises, and self-assessment questions.

During the course, expert trainers are available through a discussion forum to answer participants' questions and conduct interactive discussions.

Towards the end of the course, there will be a second interactive live webinar to discuss in more detail the topics raised during the course.

All participants must complete a comprehensive assessment and finish all the courses. Successful trainees receive a certificate.
