In 2023, the forest area increased by 3,159 hectares compared to 2022, and the timber volume harvested decreased by 5.3% in 2023 compared to 2022.
As of December 31, 2023, the national forest fund registered an increase of 2,284 hectares. This growth is mainly due to the reforestation of pastures and the introduction into the forest fund of degraded and non-forested lands designated to be afforested under the law (Law No. 133/2015 for the amendment and completion of Law No. 46/2008 - the Forest Code).
