The warm weather has improved the projected wheat yields in the EU, according to the latest Monitoring Agricultural Resources (Mars) report from the European Commission (EC).
In the April Mars report, the EC mentioned warm spring temperatures, as well as adequate water reserves, as the main reasons for the increased projected yields for the 2024-25 marketing year. In Spain and Portugal, projected yields for durum wheat have been raised.
The EC anticipates soft wheat yields at 5.93 t/ha, compared to 5.91 t/ha in the previous estimate. Similarly, estimated yields for durum wheat are projected at 3.47 t/ha compared to 3.44 t/ha in the previous estimate.
