Immediate cooling of milk after milking is essential for maintaining its quality and safety. In Romania, European standards require milk to be cooled to a maximum of 4°C within a short period of time, in order to prevent bacterial growth and ensure compliance with industrial processing requirements.

Farmers and collection centers use automated cooling tanks equipped with digital monitoring systems for temperature and hygiene. Modern equipment allows precise control of cooling parameters and reduces energy consumption by optimizing operating cycles.

Studies show that keeping milk at optimal temperatures can reduce quality losses by up to 40% and directly contribute to extending the shelf life of finished products. In addition, farmers who implement systems compliant with ISO 5708 standards benefit from quality bonuses from processors.

In Romania, investment programs through AFIR have supported the purchase of high-performance cooling tanks in more than 3,000 farms, significantly contributing to the modernization of the primary milk sector.
