State Secretary Violeta Mușat Participates in the AgriFish Council Meeting in Brussels

Violeta Mușat, State Secretary within the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MADR), took part in the AgriFish Council meeting held in Brussels. She was joined by Dana Rebega, Director General of the General Directorate for Rural Development – Managing Authority for the National Rural Development Programme (AM PNDR).

On this occasion, the Council held a public policy debate on the Vision for Agriculture and the Food Sector, published by the European Commission on February 19, 2025.

In the context of Russia's war of aggression against Ukraine and the recent changes to the United States' tariff policy, the Council launched a discussion on the current state of the agricultural and basic commodity markets. The first part of this debate was held in the presence of Vitali Koval, Ukraine's Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food.

Under the "Any Other Business" item, the Council was informed on several matters, including the simplification package proposed by the European Commission and updates on a recent meeting of the Directors-General for Forestry.

Additionally, during an informal meeting, agriculture ministers exchanged views on the future Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) as a support and stabilization mechanism in times of uncertainty.

Through its participation in this meeting, MADR reaffirms its commitment to strengthening sustainable European agriculture and promoting the interests of Romanian farmers in the current international economic and geopolitical context.
