In commercial farming operations, cost structure analysis represents one of the essential tools for farm economic management. The increase in input prices in recent years has significantly altered the share of major expenses within field crop production technologies.

Economic analyses published by the National Institute of Statistics and agricultural market reports from the European Commission indicate that fertilizers account for the largest expense category in many farms, with shares that can exceed 30–35% of the total cost per hectare.

Crop protection products represent another important component of the technological budget. Depending on the crop and the pressure from diseases or pests, these expenses can frequently reach 15–20% of total costs.

Fuel and mechanized operations also constitute a significant category of expenditure. The rise in energy costs in recent years has led to increased mechanization costs, which can exceed 15% of the technological budget for crops.

In addition, the depreciation of agricultural machinery and the financing costs of investments influence the economic performance of farms. In modernized operations, these costs can account for between 10 and 15% of the total cost per hectare.
