The National Institute of Statistics (INS) has published the final summary of the agricultural sector's production value for the year 2022. According to the data, in current prices, the total production value in 2022 was 109,567.7 million lei.

In the year 2022, the largest share of the production value, accounting for 65.6%, was attributed to crop production. This percentage represents a decrease of 5.6 percentage points compared to the previous year.

In comparison to 2021, the crop production value in 2022 increased in only one development region, namely Sud-Muntenia (+0.3 percentage points). On the other hand, all other development regions experienced declines, including Sud-Est (-39.0 p.p.), Nord-Est (-34.0 p.p.), București-Ilfov (-30.4 p.p.), Nord-Vest (-25.4 p.p.), Vest (-22.8 p.p.), Sud-Vest Oltenia (-21.0 p.p.), and Centru (-18.9 p.p.).

In the year 2022, the value of animal production showed increases in the development regions of Vest (+3.5 p.p.), Nord-Vest (+3.1 p.p.), Sud-Muntenia (+1.5 p.p.), and Centru (+0.3 p.p.) when compared to 2021. In the remaining development regions, the value of animal production experienced declines ranging from 7.4 p.p. to 2.7 p.p.

The value of agricultural services increased in all development regions, with growth rates ranging from 8.8 p.p. to 46.3 p.p.

Crop production maintains the largest share in the agricultural sector's production in all development regions of the country, with values ranging from 57.2% (in the Nord-Est and Centru development regions) to 77.0% (in the Sud-Muntenia development region).

In 2022, compared to 2021, the structure of the agricultural sector's production value showed the most significant increases in the Sud-Muntenia (+3.3 p.p.) and Vest (+0.4 p.p.) development regions.

Conversely, the most significant decreases were recorded in the Sud-Est (-2.9 p.p.) and Nord-Est (-1.3 p.p.) development regions.

Regarding the structure of crop production in 2022, the highest shares belong to the Sud-Muntenia (26.0%), Sud-Est (16.5%), and Sud-Vest Oltenia (13.8%) development regions. In contrast, the structure of animal production in the same year is dominated by the Nord-Est (20.1%), NordVest (15.4%), Sud-Muntenia (14.9%), and Centru (14.7%) development regions.
