"Cluj Horticultural Days", the 3rd edition, at the USAMV Cluj-Napoca campus, on May 17-19, 2024

The University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine (USAMV) Cluj-Napoca is pleased to announce the organization on campus, on the plateau in front of the Great Hall "Mihai Șerban", on May 17-19, 2024 (from 10:00 to 19:00), through the Faculty of Horticulture and Rural Development Business, of the 3rd edition of the "Cluj Horticulture Days", with specialists from the university and representatives of some of the most important companies in the field who will hold attractive workshops, exhibitions, and demonstrations.

Visitors will learn about the most suitable innovative solutions for the protection and care of indoor plants, solutions for landscaping gardens/terraces, as well as tourist orientation activities or solutions for initiating successful businesses in rural development. The event also includes exhibitions with the sale of flowers, vegetables, ornamental and aromatic plants, seedlings, irrigation systems, tools, machinery, and other accessories for horticulture.

There will also be demonstrations of fruit tree grafting and vine grafting, demonstrations with machines for maintaining green spaces, technologies for establishing and maintaining fruit and vine plantations, bonsai styling workshop, indoor plant care solutions, workshop on exploring the potential of micropropagation in horticulture, innovations for modern horticulture, entrepreneurship in horticulture, fruit tastings, napkin technique, and many other surprises for our visitors.

Throughout the three days, visitors will be able to taste and buy wines from the Vinea Apoldia Maior Viticultural Station, and the university greenhouses will have stands with fresh fruits and vegetables, seasonal or indoor flowers, as well as aromatic plants.

"The event has grown from one edition to another, so this year we have over 50 participants, passionate about horticulture, most of them being our graduates, who have managed to become entrepreneurs in this field and are examples of good practices for students and, why not?, for horticulture enthusiasts," said the event organizer, Prof. Dr. Mirela Cordea.

In the program of the three days dedicated to Cluj horticulture, two other important events stand out: The Ceremony of conferring the title of Professor Emeritus to Academician Prof. Dr. Doru Pamfil - Rector of USAMV Cluj-Napoca from 2008 to 2016 (May 17, 12:00, Great Hall "Mihai Șerban") and "Plant Fascination Day", in the international EPSO calendar (May 18, 10:00, USAMV Cluj-Napoca Library). "Plant Fascination Day" is celebrated worldwide, being supported by a series of events in over 60 countries. In Romania, events will take place dedicated to USAMV Cluj-Napoca, at the "Alexandru Borza" Botanical Garden in Cluj-Napoca, as well as at the Institute of Biological Research in the "Vasile Fati" Botanical Garden in Jibou, on May 26, 2024.
