The Agency for Rural Investment Financing announces the closing of the application session for funding under the Aid Scheme for supporting investments in new capacities for electricity production from renewable sources for self-consumption by enterprises within the agricultural sector and the food industry.

Thus, during the session that was open from November 20, 2023, to February 15, 2024, AFIR received 1,342 funding requests online, amounting to €262,013,701, representing an utilization rate of approximately 175%.

The allocation set by the energy scheme for this session is €150 million, divided according to the installed capacities at the enterprise level. Accordingly, €100 million was made available for capacities installed less than 1 Megawatt (MW), of which €90 million for solar energy and the rest for wind energy.

For capacities installed larger than 1 MW, the total allocation was €50 million, of which €40 million were allocated for solar energy and the rest for wind energy.

The power of the renewable energy production capacities for which farmers and processors have applied for funding through this scheme has reached a total of 488.27 MW, which is equivalent to approximately 70% of the capacity of a nuclear reactor at Cernavodă.

We would like to remind that this scheme follows a competitive announcement, so the submission of project proposals is based on the competitive bidding procedure and will be submitted and evaluated according to the competitive procedure based on the score obtained after the end of the submission session.

The support provided under this scheme is 100% non-repayable, and potential beneficiaries can submit multiple projects, only if the investments target different consumption locations, within the limit of €20,000,000 per beneficiary.

The financing amount for wind energy is a maximum of €1,400,000 per MW for capacities installed less than or equal to 1 MW and a maximum of €700,000 per MW for capacities installed larger than 1 MW. For solar energy, the support value is up to €1,000,000 per MW for capacities installed less than or equal to 1 MW and up to €500,000 per MW for capacities installed larger than 1 MW.

The financing for the Energy Scheme is provided from the Modernization Fund managed by the Ministry of Energy, with the scheme administrator being the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, through the Agency for Rural Investment Financing.
