According to AFIR (Agency for Rural Investment Financing), the European Commission has officially transferred the amount of 264,043,355 euros to Romania. This sum represents expenses incurred through the Agency for Rural Investment Financing (AFIR) and claimed for reimbursement by Romania for the period October 16th to December 31st, 2022.
According to the information received from the National Bank of Romania, these funds were effectively credited to the Romanian government's accounts on March 2nd, 2023, and represent reimbursements from the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD) - 248,417,217.60 euros, and from the European Union Recovery Instrument (EURI) - 15,626,138.79 euros.
"The reimbursement of expenses by a member state certifies the correctness of these expenses and, above all, the fact that AFIR has all the implementation and payment systems fully compliant with European regulations. To date, the European Commission has reimbursed Romania approximately 7.8 billion euros for investments in agriculture and sustainable rural development financed through the Agency," stated George CHIRIȚĂ, the Director-General of AFIR.
