The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, through the National Land Improvement Agency, has fully paid the amounts requested to cover the expenses related to electric energy for the irrigation campaign in the year 2023, representing the electricity consumption for water pumping in the pressurization stations of farmers organized in Irrigation and Drainage User Associations (OUAI) and other beneficiaries, based on Law no. 125/2007, with the total reimbursed amount being 78,654,877.32 lei.

We remind that, during the Government meeting on February 8, 2024, the Decision amending paragraph (5) of Article 81 of the Methodological Norms for the application of Land Improvement Law no. 138/2004 was approved.

Through the mentioned legislative act, the procedure for reimbursing expenses, up to 50%, related to the consumption of electric energy necessary for the operation of aggregates or irrigation equipment, expenses incurred in the previous year and unpaid, was established.

The legislative solution regarding reimbursement for the year 2023 from the budget allocated for the year 2024 aimed at the economic recovery of producers.

In this way, they will have the ability to continue agricultural activities, reduce the effects of drought on agricultural production, as well as mitigate the impact on the following agricultural year. (Photo: Freepik)
