Analyzing the 2023 agricultural season, we can recall the following: capricious weather conditions (some areas experienced drought, while others had considerable precipitation, temperatures either too low or too high, a fall season without precipitation in the southern region of the country, favorable conditions for the western region, etc.), high costs for crop establishment, low yields, and market prices below producers' expectations.
The year 2023 marked the launch of the new herbicide from Corteva's portfolio - Principal® Forte. The novelty and the most important characteristics of this new herbicide are as follows:
- Safener technology incorporated into the product formulation
- Larger application window for the product
- Unique combination of active substances.
The advantages and benefits brought by the Principal® Forte herbicide are:
- Complete post-emergence solution.
- Maximum efficacy in combating post-emergence weeds in corn.
- No restrictions on crop rotation.
- Very good selectivity, being applicable from 2 to 9 leaves of corn.
Principal® Forte is a systemic herbicide, applied post-emergence, with absorption through roots and leaves and rapid distribution in the plant. The herbicide works best when applied to actively growing weeds.
Principal® Forte is recommended for use in both grain and silage corn crops. The recommended application rate of Principal® Forte herbicide is 480 g/ha + 0.2% v/v Vivolt® depending on the water volume used to prepare the spray solution.
Principal® Forte is applied during the corn development stage from 2 to 9 leaves (BBCH 12-19).
Due to the unique and balanced combination of active substances nicosulfuron and rimsulfuron, Principal® Forte combats the main grass weeds, including species of Agropyron (couch grass), Panicum (foxtail millet), Echinochloa (barnyard grass), Setaria (foxtail), Avena fatua (wild oats), etc.
The dicamba content enhances the efficacy of Principal® Forte herbicide in combating annual dicotyledonous weeds (species of crucifers, Chenopodium (goosefoot), Xanthium spp. (cocklebur), Polygonum convolvulus (black bindweed), Ambrosia, Solanum (nightshade), Amaranthus (pigweed), Melandrium, and perennial dicotyledonous weeds Convolvulus arvensis (field bindweed), Sonchus arvensis (perennial sowthistle), Cirsium arvense (Canada thistle), Euphorbia cyparissias (cypress spurge)).
Confidently use Corteva's products applied post-emergence to combat weeds in corn crops!
