Local producers from Sibiu County are now part of the most extensive program supporting them, as Profi has opened the "Shelf with Local Delicacies" in Sibiu and Șelimbăr.

Local producers are encouraged to continue the tradition of making goodies according to traditional recipes and are helped to reach consumers more easily thanks to the program launched by Profi, the Romanian retail network.

The "Shelf with Local Delicacies" offers the authentic and healthy taste of fresh products such as meat, dairy, pastry, pure honey, craft beer, natural juices, and selected wines. Initially, nearly 20 producers supply the "Shelf with Local Delicacies" in selected Profi stores in Sibiu County.

"The Shelf with Local Delicacies is the most natural and sincere declaration of love for Romania and Romanians, for authentic craftsmanship and the artisans of good taste. We ensure that what is good and healthy finds its place in modern retail.

Profi helps small local producers who cook as if for their own families to reach as many families in Romania as possible, and those who come to the stores can rediscover authentic tastes, from carefully selected ingredients, crafted with love by small producers from Sibiu County.

All producers we find making goodies that deserve to be discovered and enjoyed are found on the Via Profi platform, and from today their products have found a place at the "Shelf with Local Delicacies" in selected Profi stores in Sibiu County, thus being able to reach as many families as possible," said Călin Costinaș, Deputy General Manager of Profi.

Every day, the "Shelf with Local Delicacies" welcomes its customers in Sibiu at Profi Super on 14 Semaforului Street, Profi Super on 67 Lungă Street and 52 Nicolae Iorga Street, as well as in Șelimbăr, at Profi Super on 292 Mihai Viteazul Street.

All products are offered for sale in limited quantities and only in selected stores to allow producers to maintain their traditional preparation methods and quality without focusing on quantity. The emphasis is on freshness and the specific artisanal production of each locality or area where they are displayed on the "Shelf with Local Delicacies".

"The Shelf with Local Delicacies helps small producers to exist and develop, but also helps consumers to access the authentic tastes they appreciate, fresh and healthy products that they can share with their families. This program does not have an economic stake for Profi, being another way in which we understand to put our soul into the community and into Romania, just like each of the small producers we have selected.

Participants in this program also receive assistance in preparing the necessary documentation and obtaining the necessary approvals for the compliant sale of their products, while Profi facilitates their distribution through its own fleet and provides support in their promotion," explains Gaetan Pacton, General Manager of Profi.

The program supporting local producers initiated by Profi through the "Shelf with Local Delicacies" was first presented in September 2022 at the Festival it organized in Apoș. Since then, it has expanded to include more and more counties and will continue to expand throughout this year. Thus, in 2023, it included 120 artisanal local suppliers, with over 800 traditional items, present in 25 Profi stores in 21 localities.

Beyond their presence on the "Shelf with Local Delicacies", small local producers tell their stories and present their offers on the most extensive national platform for their promotion, Via-Profi.ro, through which anyone can embark on a journey full of the flavor of Romania's tastes.
