Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MADR) will celebrate "National Day of Romanian Agri-Food Products" on October 10, 2023, by organizing fairs and events nationwide. The seventh edition of the "National Day of Romanian Agri-Food Products" will also be celebrated in the courtyard of MADR, with the support of the "Produs de Cluj" Association and Romanian producers, from October 9 to October 11, 2023, between 08:00 and 18:00, through an exhibition with the sale of Romanian agri-food products.
Visitors are expected to find a wide range of products registered under national quality schemes and European quality systems, traditionally certified products, products that have acquired the right to use the optional quality mention "mountain product," products with protected designations, such as Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) or Traditional Specialty Guaranteed (TSG), organic certified products, meat products, dairy products, bakery and pastry products, fresh and processed vegetables, fresh and processed fruits, spirits, wine, honey, and jams.
"By buying Romanian products, we can support Romanian producers, showing them respect for their work and love for their country and land. We have good quality products that deserve to be appreciated and recognized. Together, we will learn to buy Romanian and love everything related to our country's ethnic and cultural identity: traditions, customs, and native dishes," said the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Florin Barbu.
Under the brand of the "Produs de Cluj" Association, products obtained by small producers by valorizing raw materials from the geographical area of Transylvania will be presented: dairy and meat products, dried and fresh fruits, honey, and bee products.
From the counties of Argeș, Sibiu, and Tulcea, products that have gained European protection and represent Romania's gastronomy and the preservation of European traditions and values will be available for sale: Topoloveni Plum Jam (AG) - PGI since 2011, Telemea de Sibiu (SB) - PGI since 2019, Smoked Danube Mackerel (TL) - PGI since 2018, Tulcea Sturgeon Roe Salad - PGI since 2021, Traditional Sturgeon Roe Salad (TL) - Traditional Specialty Guaranteed TSG since 2021.
Organic agriculture is represented at the fair by a producer from Argeș County who will bring various types of honey: acacia honey, multifloral honey, linden honey, honeydew honey, and honey with sea buckthorn and sea buckthorn propolis.
Fish lovers will be able to choose from a wide range of trout products from Bușteni Trout Farm, registered as mountain products, such as Zamorean Trout, Carrot Zamorean Trout, Gritted Trout, Rolled and Skewered Trout, Tomato Sauce Trout, Trout Stew with Vegetables, Gritted Trout Stew with Vegetables, Vegetable Oil-Preserved Trout, Vegetable Ossetra Trout, Zamorean Trout Liver Pate, and Trout Rainbow Sauce. Traditional products from Tulcea will also be available from the RO-Pescador applicant group: "deltaic" Sardine marinated in oil, "deltaic" Sardine marinated in spicy oil, "deltaic" Silvery Carp Batog, "deltaic" Catfish Batog, "Deltaic" Silurian Smoked Ham.
From Vâlcea County, traditional products from the spirits category will be available: "Catalin's Strength" Plum Brandy and "Catalin's Strength" Fruit Brandy, as well as the spirit "Sordony Plum Brandy from Horezu," which is in the process of being registered as a geographical indication in a quality system.
Traditional products from Mureș County, such as homemade potato bread, homemade sponge cake, and walnut wreaths, will also be available.
Traditional meat products from the "Meșteșugari de Gusturi" (Craftsmen of Tastes) brand will be available for enthusiasts: smoked pork tenderloin, smoked pork neck from grandma's attic, smoked pork breast, bacon, peasant blood sausage, peasant head cheese, butcher sausages, and peasant leber.
At the MADR fair, visitors will be able to purchase a variety of jams, fruit preserves, fruit juices, syrups, and seasonal fresh vegetables such as tomatoes, cucumbers, bell peppers, cabbage, zucchini, beans, and eggplants from an agricultural cooperative in Giurgiu County. The traditional autumn drink, grape must, will also be available, along with apples, plums, smoked plums, walnut kernels, brought by producers from Dâmbovița and Vrancea counties.
Moreover, at this autumn event, various sweets such as sponge cake, gingerbread varieties, alviță, and homemade chocolate, as well as white, rosé, and red wines, will be available.
Seasonal flowers brought by the members of the Muntenia Flower Producers Association will delight all those who will come to the Fair organized on the occasion of the National Day of Romanian Agri-Food Products.
As every year, the "National Day of Romanian Agri-Food Products" will be celebrated throughout the country with educational, volunteer, social, and scientific programs and events, aimed at promoting Romanian agri-food products and gaining consumer trust.
